A newsletter is designed to be a brief publication about news and events. A magazine is similar to this in the terms of publishing news and events but a magazine will contain more photographs and is usually published on a regular basis. Newsletters usually contain information about things such as open days and term times but a magazine will contain articles of interest and knowledge.

This is the Wyke newsletter I found on their website. Compared to a typical magazine front, the front of this newsletter looks plain, drab and crammed with information.
A magazine will look better then a newsletter due to colour, photographs, mastheads and an overall layout. Magazines do not have an article on the front page as their aim is to make people buy their magazine to read the articles inside whereas a newsletter is usually free to the organisation you are with and is created to inform.
My magazine will contain:
- A large masthead
- Relevent Photo relating to my front page story
- Smaller stories around the front page
- Plugs.
Everything on the front page of a magazine, newspaper or newsletter is called the 'splash'.
