This is a dance music magazine I found off the internet called 'MixMag'.It is aimed at DJ's on the club curcuit and strong followers of the dance music scene.
The magazine front cover itself is very similar to the CD covers I have just analysed. I mean this by it having a dark background with neon lighting to demonstrate the bright lights on a night out. It also uses bright contrasting colours to draw the eyes to different parts of the front cover.By having the band name in a large bold colour and font, the audiences eye gets drawn to them and their name but by also having the masthead large it doesnt draw attention away from the magazine name.
The main photograph is of the artist in question called 'Justice' which has had many dance hits in the past. The photo is a looking up shot which shows dominance for them in the music scene as they have been around a long time in the industry. They are against the neon blue lighting but they have a pink highlight shining on them to tie them in with the title, so people who do not really know who they are may see a link between the pink on them and the pink in the title.
The front page also has a puff in the corner plugging another band called Soulwax which is a sucessful band who usually take big current hits and mix them with dance beats. This plug of them is similar to a CD cover and the usual conventions a CD cover has. This then shows that they are a band that make good enough music to be featured on the cover of a popular dance magazine.
They have made the magazine a special edition one, listing the 'Best of 08' next to the band Justice. By having special features such as this, it makes the readers want to read it, especially with editions like 'the best of' because it gives readers a chance to recap and remember things they may have forgot.
